Nike: Leading Teams and Growth

THE ISSUE: Nike’s talented designers were finding themselves challenged to strongly give voice to their design vision as they navigated Nike’s cross-discipline matrix.  

WRENCH: Need to carefully balance hewing to purity of design vision (historically a core Nike differentiator) with engaging the expertise of other disciplines within Nike. Core insight revealed — corporate-wide need to evolve leadership and collaboration capacity. Design team would be the help develop (design) the experience that would then be activated throughout Nike corporate globally.

PROCESS: Transformation at Scale - Defined a bespoke SYPartners process to guide Nike design leaders globally in embracing new ways of thinking and acting as leaders.

SOLVE: Developed a teaming model unique to Nike.

RESULTS: Strengthened the teaming and leadership capabilities of Nike’s global design directors allowing them to make their voices heard and visions realized.
